La salida del mar Báltico, usada por buques tanque de puertos rusos, finlandeses y polacos: 4,9 millones de barriles diarios en el primer semestre de 2025. Los buques de gran calado toman la Ruta T por el Gran Belt, de unos 17 m de profundidad en el mejor caso y hasta 2 m menos a veces. No se publica un calado máximo oficial, y se recomienda práctico a partir de 11 m. El atajo del canal de Kiel solo admite buques tanque pequeños.
